The Whispering Bracelet
On her twelfth birthday, Lily received a delicate bracelet from her grandmother — a simple string of crystal beads, each carved with a single letter. As she traced her fingers over the smooth stones, she noticed the word they formed: "BELIEVE."
“It’s not just decoration,” her grandmother whispered with a twinkle in her eye. “These crystals remember things. They whisper when you listen closely.”
That night, Lily placed the bracelet on her nightstand and whispered a wish: “I wish I could be brave.”
The next morning, when she put the bracelet on, she thought she heard the faintest voice: “You already are.” Startled, she looked around — but no one was there.
Over the weeks that followed, the bracelet became her secret friend. Before tests, before trying something new, she’d hold it and listen. And always, it answered with just the word she needed: “Try.” “Smile.” “Speak.”
Years later, long after her grandmother passed, Lily wore the bracelet to her first job interview. Nervous, she sat in the waiting room, clutching her wrist. This time, she didn’t even need to listen. She already knew what it would say.
“Believe.”
